Job summary

Salvation Army in Columbus, GA is seeking a dedicated coordinator to recruit, train and supervise bell ringers and staff, ensuring complete coverage across kettle locations. You will plan schedules, monitor performance, and maintain accurate records and reports on daily income and hours worked.

You will engage with volunteers and community partners, organize special events, and drive Salvation Army vehicles to kettles as needed.

Qualifications

• High School or GED and one year experience with kettle fundraising preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.
• Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
• Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
• Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.
• Meets with community leaders and organizations and discuss Salvation Army needs.
• Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
• Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
