Job summary

Opelika Animal Hospital is seeking a kennel technician to join our team of veterinarians and caring staff. The role is full-time with a 40-hour work week and a rotating schedule between hours of 7:15 am - 6:15 pm, including alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous experience caring for animals.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Physically fit and agile.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
• A passion for animal welfare.
• Available to work evenings, on weekends, and public holidays.
• Previous experience as a kennel tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transporting pets to and from kennels.
• Ensuring that the animals always have ample fresh food and water.
• Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair and other debris from kennels.
• Accompany animals on walks, if required.
• Calming animals that are in distress.
• Bathing dogs and cats.
• Reporting significant changes in functioning to the Veterinarian or medical professional on duty.
• Evacuating all animals in case of an emergency.
