Job summary

Prince George County is seeking applicants to assist with cleaning and maintaining the Prince George Animal Services Center, providing daily care of animals, medicating animals, walking animals, lifting and transferring animals, maintaining records and files, and greeting the public. The position is up to 20 hours per week, mostly on weekends.

Applicants must have knowledge of safe feeding and transferring methods, be able to handle animals without injury, and meet the minimum age and licensing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of animal care experience.
• Ability to handle animals safely and with care.
• Must have valid driver's license in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals including feeding, medicating, walking, and lifting/transferring animals.
• Maintain records and files related to animal care and handling.
• Greet the public and assist visitors at the Animal Services Center.

Prince George County is currently seeking applicants to assist with cleaning and maintaining the Prince George Animal Services Center, providing daily care of animals, medicating animals, walking animals, lifting and transferring animals, maintaining records and files, and greeting the public. Must be available to work up to20 hours per week and be available to work mostly weekends.

Must have knowledge of the safe and humane methods of feeding and transferring animals; ability to check and handle animals without personal injury; physical condition that permits heavy lifting. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in work involving the care of animals.

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must be at least 18 years of age. Drug testing and criminal background check, to include fingerprinting, required.
