Colleton County Government is accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Animal Services Kennel Assistant. The successful candidate will, assist the shelter manager with the cleaning and basic care of the animals in the shelter’s care under general supervision. Job duties include cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining facility grounds and equipment in accordance with County and shelter regulations, as well as feeding and watering animals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring the physical condition of animals and communicating with appropriate shelter staff regarding concerns.
This position is part-time. The amount of and schedule of hours will depend upon the staffing needs of the animal shelter.
Requires basic knowledge of animal behavior, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, the ability to stand for several hours and lift up to 50 pounds, and the ability to operate small lawn maintenance equipment. Must be available to work weekends. Pre-employment drug screen and a satisfactory background check required.
