Job summary

Blue Bell Foundation for Cats in Laguna Beach, CA is seeking a part-time Kennel Attendant/Cleaning Technician to keep our sanctuary clean and welcoming for senior cats. This 100% sanitation role focuses on daily cleaning of cottage buildings, no medical duties, and a home-style environment.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 5–6 hours daily, with start times by 7 AM and duties finished by noon; weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Genuine love for cats and comfort handling animals of varying temperaments.
• Physically demanding tasks including lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Prior experience in animal care, kennel work, or veterinary settings is a plus.
• Must be comfortable working around strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and animal waste.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry 40 pounds.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize cat enclosures, furniture, and common areas to maintain a safe and hygienic facility
• Sweep and mop interior floors
• Wash food/water bowls and provide fresh food/water
• Report any health, behavior, or well-being concerns of cats in residence to senior staff
• Change linens and launder bedding, towels, and other linens used in animal care areas
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain sanitation protocols to prevent disease transmission
• Change litter boxes, sanitize and set up new boxes
• Sweep patios and exterior walkways
• Other tasks assigned by management and aligned with maintaining sanctuary cleanliness

About the Role

Blue Bell Foundation for Cats in Laguna Beach, CA is looking for a part time compassionate and hardworking Kennel Attendant/Cleaning Technician to join our team! This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of senior cats while keeping our facility safe, clean, and welcoming. This position is responsible for the daily cleaning of the two cottage buildings at our facility. This is a 100% facility sanitation and housekeeping role (no medical or caregiving duties). You will be working inside a home-style environment where cats roam freely. Schedule is Monday-Friday, including holidays, between 5-6 hours daily. Start time is flexible but no later than 7AM and all responsibilities must be completed by 12PM. If you love animals and take pride in a well-maintained environment, we'd love to meet you!

The Blue Bell Foundation for Cats is a nonprofit organization that offers loving and compassionate lifetime care for senior cats whose owners can no longer care for them. Our lifetime care program provides resident cats with healthcare and a home-like cage-free environment in our Laguna Canyon cottages. We operate in a similar way to an assisted living facility, but for cats!
