Job description

Oakdale Animal Hospital, located in Brandon, MS, proudly serves the Brandon and Flowood, MS areas for all pet-related needs. Our dedicated team focuses on educating clients about maintaining their pets' health through good nutrition and exercise. We stay updated on the latest veterinary technology and prioritize compassionate care for all animals during check-ups, procedures, and surgeries.

Position: Kennel Assistant

The Kennel Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, efficient, and healthy environment for hospitalized and boarded animals. A typical day includes:

  1. Maintaining cleanliness of the hospital, including kennels, runs, treatment areas, and outdoor grounds.
  2. Feeding hospitalized animals and boarders.
  3. Monitoring and recording animals' conditions, behaviors, and habits.
  4. Walking animals three times daily.
  5. Notifying veterinary staff of any medical or behavioral concerns.
  6. Cleaning treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas daily.
  7. Maintaining laundry and keeping the laundry area organized.
  8. Assisting veterinarians and technicians with restraint and treatments.
  9. Managing kennel supplies and inventory.
  10. Performing additional duties to support the clinic's operations and client care.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and stress management abilities.
  • Physical and mental capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Previous kennel technician experience preferred.
