Sugar Hill Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Full Time Kennel Assistant to join our team!

Pay Details: $14 - $16/hr depending on experience

What We Are Looking For: Sugar Hill Animal Hospital is seeking Pet Care Technicians who are self-motivated, upbeat, and passionate about animals. Client interaction is a significant part of the job. This role is labor-intensive, requiring you to be on your feet and outside in the elements for 10+ hours a day. The main purpose is to care for animals that are boarded, attending doggie daycare, getting bathed, or are patients of the hospital.

Job Summary: The Kennel Assistant provides daily care, feeding, and exercise for boarding and hospitalized animals. They monitor animals' health signs, such as stress and changes in eating or elimination habits, and notify technicians and veterinarians when medical attention is needed. The role involves interaction with clients both in person and via phone and email, with accurate record-keeping being essential. Attention to detail and adherence to feeding, sanitation, and monitoring procedures are critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and uphold core values and mission of MVP.
  • Provide compassionate care to pets and hospitalized animals.
  • Check-in animals for boarding, communicate with owners, record instructions, and manage belongings.
  • Administer medications, flea and tick control, and record medication instructions accurately.
  • Regularly check kennel area and animals for health and behavior issues.
  • Assist with medical records, notify staff of health concerns, and support emergency situations.
  • Supervise animals in yard, perform playtimes, and move animals for cleaning and disinfection.
  • Clean and disinfect cages, runs, and equipment, using PPE appropriately.
  • Handle check-out procedures, including returning belongings and providing baths if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Confidence around animals and knowledge of restraint techniques.
  • Understanding of infectious diseases and prevention methods.
  • Reasoning, memory, math, and language skills to perform duties proficiently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent in process or attained.
  • Must be 16 years or older.
