Job description

Carriage Animal Hospital in Lombard, Illinois, is seeking to hire a Full-time Kennel Attendant to join our team!

The successful candidate(s) must:

• Have some Kennel experience (working at a veterinary clinic, shelter, daycare, or caring for own pets). Training is available.
• Have strong communication skills.
• Have a flexible schedule.
• Be dependable, reliable, punctual, and organized.
• Work well on a team.
• Be able to keep an efficient log on patients in the clinic.
• Be able to multitask in a busy environment.
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Stand and walk for long periods.
• Have reliable transportation.

Kennel attendants provide basic care for animals in boarding, grooming, daycare, or hospital settings. General duties include but are not limited to:

• Cleaning and sanitizing cages, boarding areas, bathrooms, etc.
• Feeding and caring for canines and felines (including occasional pocket pets).
• Walking dogs in any weather, changing litter pans.
• Doing laundry, washing, and sanitizing pet dishes.
• Cleaning and maintaining hospital interior and outside premises.
• Checking on all patients throughout the day.
• Bathing pets for grooming or after boarding.
• Preparing pets for dismissal.
• Assisting veterinarians and technicians as needed.
• Administering medications to hospitalized or boarded patients (training provided).
• Communicating patient health status to vets and techs.

The full-time and part-time positions work Monday-Friday with alternating weekends. Priority will be given to applicants with veterinary or kennel experience. Pay rate depends on experience.

Full-time positions are eligible for health, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k). Scrubs are provided.

The base hourly range is $15-$17, determined by role, experience, and location.
