Job summary

Methuen Public Schools seeks a Resource Room Teacher with ASD experience to support students identified with special needs. Qualifications include a valid MA teaching license in Moderate Disabilities PK-8 with SEI Endorsement; a Master's degree and bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts Teaching license in Moderate Disabilities PK-8 with SEI Endorsement is required.
• Additional content area license is encouraged.
• Bachelor's Degree in the area of major study; Master's degree preferred.
• Bilingual ability is preferred (English, Spanish, Arabic, French).

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
• Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals with clear objectives.
• Employs Universal Design for Learning and appropriate instructional materials.
• Work with students identified by the evaluation team as having special needs.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans for students approved for services.
• Provide diagnostic testing and submit required forms, logs, and reports.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and school programs.
• Communicate regularly with colleagues, students, and parents; maintain records.
• Plan and supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteers; participate in committees.
