Job summary

Qualifications

• Eligibility for MSDE Special Education Certificate in Infant-Grade 3, Grades 1-8, or 6-Adult, based on assignment.
• Special Education certificate requirements and MSDE evaluation steps.
• Requires Bachelors in Special Education or appropriate content area; Masters or higher for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and orderly behavior.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians and IEP team members.
• Communicate effectively with students and staff, including meetings and in-services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of instruction using best practices and technology based on content, prior knowledge and student needs.
• Plan using IEP goals and assessments, develop measurable short/long-term plans aligned with standards.
• Participate in school-based committees and provide mentorship to colleagues.
