Job summary

Park Ridge Achievement Academy, part of Helix Community Schools, is seeking a compassionate School Counselor for K–8 to support students’ academic and social-emotional development. Qualifications

• Louisiana Ancillary School Counselor (K–12) certificate or valid Louisiana teaching certificate with School Counselor add-on endorsement
• Graduate degree in counseling from a CACREP-accredited program
• Completion of required counseling practicum and internship
• Passing score on the Praxis School Counselor examination
• Current training in suicide prevention, crisis response, and mandatory reporting

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to students.
• Deliver classroom lessons on social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, bullying prevention, study skills, personal safety, and career awareness.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, social, or emotional concerns.
• Respond to student crises and coordinate additional services as needed.
• Monitor attendance, academic performance, and behavior to identify students needing support.
• Assist 8th-grade students with IGPs and high school pathway exploration.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners.
• Participate in SBLC, RTI/MTSS, PBIS, Section 504, and IEP processes as appropriate.
• Maintain confidential student counseling records following ethical standards.
