Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a music teacher to cover a 6-month parental leave at one of our Chicago schools. The teacher will be responsible for planning lessons, tracking student progress, and maintaining positive classroom environments in line with CPS policies.

The role requires Illinois State Board of Education teaching certification and strong collaboration with parents, administrators and staff.

Qualifications

• Education and experience meeting Illinois teaching certification requirements.
• Knowledge of state certification requirements and teaching practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan instruction and prepare written lesson plans aligned with objectives.
• Evaluate pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
• Establish classroom expectations and maintain discipline per district code.
• Implement contemporary teaching techniques and materials.
• Coordinate field trips and participate in after-school activities as needed.
• Communicate with parents about academic progress, attendance and conduct.
