Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking an outstanding music teacher to fill a six-month parental leave in our district. Under the supervision of the principal, you will plan lessons, monitor pupil progress, and uphold disciplinary standards in alignment with CPS policies.

The role requires an Illinois ISBE teaching certificate (PEL or ELS) and successful completion of student teaching. You may participate in meetings, field trips, and after-school activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Illinois ISBE teaching certificate (PEL or ELS).
• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and required coursework to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional lessons and maintain accurate records of pupil progress.
• Implement instructional methods using diverse materials and approaches.
• Establish and maintain classroom discipline and positive learning environment.
• Communicate with parents about pupil progress and conduct; participate in staff meetings.
• Coordinate field trips and after-school activities when needed.
