Job summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic K–8 Art Teacher to lead the school's visual arts program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. The successful candidate will cultivate creativity, artistic expression, and technical skill while delivering instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge Sequence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Art, Art Education, or related field required.
Massachusetts Visual Arts license or eligibility preferred.
Successful completion of MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques, art history, and age-appropriate instructional practices.
Excellent classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to design engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners.
Ability to assess student progress and use data to guide instruction.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
Commitment to maintaining high academic expectations and fostering a positive, structured learning environment.

Responsibilities

Deliver standards-based visual arts instruction to Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Implement the visual arts curriculum in alignment with the Core Knowledge Sequence.
Plan and deliver lessons with clear objectives that develop artistic techniques and creativity.
Demonstrate artistic methods by creating instructional models and guiding students.
Assess student learning through projects, portfolios, and other assessments.
Prepare progress reports and report cards in accordance with school expectations.
Foster a structured, respectful classroom environment using the school's behavior model.
Maintain a safe, organized art classroom and manage materials and supplies.
Collaborate with fellow Specials teachers, administrators, and classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning.
Participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
