Job summary

North Hudson Academy is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Students with Disabilities to join our team full-time, serving students PreK–21 in a NJ-DOE approved private SPED school in North Bergen, NJ. The role focuses on implementing IEPs and supporting students with behavioral/emotional challenges.

The position requires a NJ teaching certificate (TOSD/TOH) and K‑6 certification, with a strong commitment to individualized education and collaborative planning with families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• New Jersey Standard Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH).
• Appropriate New Jersey instructional certification for the assignment: Elementary Education (K–6).
• Must meet licensure, endorsement, and assignment requirements by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Planning and carrying out the IEP and instructional program for individual students
• Planning and managing the school's therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline
• Coordinating and scheduling activities with other staff
• Maintaining and inventorying classroom supplies and instructional materials
• Keeping records as required
• Writing reports, meeting with parents and professionals, and sharing professional information for the individual student as required
• Participating in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities
• Contributing to overall program planning
• Other periodic assignments as requested by the School Administration
• Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities
