Job summary

First Children Services is seeking a dedicated High School Social Studies Teacher for North Hudson Academy in North Bergen, NJ. The role supports students aged 3–21 with special needs in a private special education setting approved by the NJ Department of Education.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, with a 7:15–2:15 schedule and a compensation range of $61,000–$80,000 per year. The candidate will develop IEPs, implement instructional programs, coordinate with staff, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• BA degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
• NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification OR valid New Jersey CE/CEAS/Endorsement/CE in Social Studies (Endorsement Code: 2300).
• Experience with children with disabilities; Praxis testing completed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out the IEP and instructional program for individual students.
• Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to discipline.
• Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
• Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
• Keep records as required; write reports and meet with parents and professionals.
• Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities.
