Job summary

St. Clair County RESA in Marysville, Michigan is seeking a K-6 Math Coach for Capac Elementary on a 2026-2027 pilot program. This nonunion, at-will position focuses on instructional leadership and coaching to strengthen mathematics teaching across grades K–6.

The role partners with teachers and school leaders, uses data to guide interventions, and leads professional learning to build rigorous, standards-aligned math instruction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with five or more years teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success with teaching math at the elementary level.
  • Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification.
  • Knowledge of current K-6 Mathematics Common Core State Standards.
  • Ability to utilize data from diagnostic tools to determine additional supports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional coaching to K–6 teachers through classroom modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observation, and reflective feedback to strengthen mathematics instruction and student achievement.
  • Support the implementation of district mathematics curriculum, instructional resources, and evidence-based teaching practices aligned with state standards and district priorities.
  • Analyze student assessment data with teachers and school leaders to identify learning trends, inform instructional decisions, and develop targeted intervention and enrichment strategies.
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers, including professional development sessions, collaborative team meetings, and professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on mathematics instruction.
  • Build teacher capacity in effective mathematics pedagogy, including conceptual understanding, mathematical discourse, problem-solving, differentiation, and formative assessment practices.
  • Collaborate with principals, district administrators, interventionists, and other instructional staff to develop and implement school and district mathematics improvement goals.
  • Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) by assisting teachers in identifying student needs, monitoring progress, and selecting appropriate instructional interventions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, state standards, assessment practices, and emerging trends in mathematics education.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that promotes continuous improvement, reflective practice, and professional growth among educators.

POSITION SUMMARY

The K–6 Math Coach is an instructional leader who partners with teachers and school leaders to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning across grades K–6. Through job-embedded coaching, professional learning, data analysis, and collaborative planning, the Math Coach supports the implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that promotes student achievement and mathematical thinking. The Math Coach fosters a culture of continuous improvement by building teacher capacity, modeling evidence-based instructional practices, and using student data to inform instructional decisions.

This is a St. Clair County RESA position that will be assigned to Capac Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year to support the above-described activities:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work well with people and maintain productive and positive interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree with five or more years teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success with teaching math at the elementary level.
  • Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment Date: September 2026. Approximately 190-day calendar. Daily report times will match the elementary building schedule of the assigned school.

Salary Range: Nonunion, $68,000-$78,000 salary (commensurate with experience/expertise)
