Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies.
• Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities.
• Valid New York State certificate in Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ skills and learning requirements.
• Adapt learning materials to meet students’ needs.
• Design Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).
• Communicate objectives to students, parents and teachers regarding IEP goals and curriculum standards.
• Collaborate with parents and staff to track students’ progress.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Provide for professional growth through ongoing development.
