Job summary

Sun Prairie Area School District seeks a Special Education Assistant to cover Creekside for 7 weeks in the 2026-27 school year, grades K-5, at an hourly rate of $21.85. This substitute support role assists teachers in meeting the needs of students with disabilities in the educational environment.

The position requires collaboration with IEP/504 teams, data collection, and safe supervision across classrooms and activities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with training in special education.
DPI certification provided by employee.
CPR, non-violent crisis intervention, and first aid certifications.
Two years of higher education or an associate degree, or demonstration of ability to assist in reading, writing and math.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe learning atmosphere for students to enable them to meet or surpass their capabilities.
Supports and facilitates all IEP/504 goals/plans set by IEP/504 Teams and collect related behavioral and academic data.
Facilitates the inclusion of students wherever possible and promotes acceptance of differences.
Leads small groups and one-on-one instruction under the guidance of a teacher.
Facilitates student accommodations on assignments and tests.
Provides student supervision across all educational environments.
Prepares and maintains detailed notes, plans and materials for substitutes when absent.
Provides basic first aid to students and maintains logs and certifications as required.
Performs or assists with health procedures as assigned after training.
