Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Buckeye, AZ is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant for K-5 to support students in both general and special education settings. The role works under certified teachers and is non-exempt, hourly.

Responsibilities include academic support in small groups or 1:1, behavior support, and assisting with transitions and classroom routines. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or higher (associate degree preferred) and experience in special education; OPT/CPT

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required; associate degree or 60 credits preferred; passing ADE assessment acceptable.
• Experience in special education is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and an interest in reading great books.

Responsibilities

• Supports students in small groups or 1:1.
• Assists with assignments, homework, projects.
• Adapts materials and provides modifications to aid learning.
• Reinforces classroom rules and routines.
• Monitors student behavior for safety and positive interactions.
• Assists with de-escalation and seeks teacher support as needed.
• Provides general clerical support for the ESS Team.
• Attends meetings and trainings; maintains a clean, organized workspace.
