Position Title: High School Math Teacher

Location: Maryvale Preparatory Academy (4825 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85031)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Middle School Math: Rigorous courses in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Euclidean Geometry, and Calculus. Students study mathematics every year K-12 as part of the core curriculum. Mathematics is not aimed at or limited to those withparticular careeraspirations but rather taught for its own sake because it is awe-inspiring, intellectually stimulating, and beautiful. We explore the nature of math itself and have a pure-mathematics focus; our courses are proof-based, andtaught using alargely Socraticpedagogy.

Middle School Science: Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Physics (I- Mechanics and II -E&M), Chemistry and Biology Science courses are not taught with a utilitarian aim, but rather, primarily for the sake of the subjects themselves, as awe-inspiring, intellectually stimulating, and beautiful. Science courses are rigorous and content-rich, with a focus on laboratory and field experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
• Certification is not required for general education.
• All majors are welcome.
• US work authorization isrequired, but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
• Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
