Job summary

Teaching Matters seeks exceptional Educational Consultants to coach teachers and administrators on-site in NYC public schools across the five boroughs. The role focuses on culturally responsive instruction, data-informed practice, and collaborative professional learning to advance student outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years as Literacy coaches plus 4 years teaching literacy, with experience in ELL/MLL contexts, curriculum adoption, and engaging large groups in workshops.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-4 years experience as a Literacy coach plus 4 years teaching - Literacy
• Focus on Curriculum Adoption
• NYC Reads; Strong ELL experience
• MLL experience / Dual Language
• Strong content knowledge in Literacy with a lens to culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy
• Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving ambitious, measurable student results
• Experience facilitating teacher teams to achieve student outcomes
• Dynamic presenter for large groups in professional workshops

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers and administrators onsite in schools across NYC boroughs
• Create culturally responsive lessons, resources, and activities for students
• Develop customized instructional coaching plans based on needs assessments
• Lead cycles of coaching to develop key teaching competencies
• Differentiate support and guide mindset shifts in teachers
• Facilitate teacher teams to analyze data and identify inequitable practices
• Support school leaders in improving systems and collaboration for student success
• Build trust and empower educators through culturally responsive pedagogy
