Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools is seeking an experienced elementary teacher to implement district-approved curriculum and foster student growth. You will document progress, address individual needs, and maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment aligned with district expectations.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a North Carolina teaching certificate and will engage with families while contributing to professional development and school-wide

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education with valid teaching certificate in North Carolina.
• Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers elementary curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Maintains a safe classroom environment and facilitates individualized and small-group instruction.
• Plans lessons and translates plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Assessses student learning and modifies instruction for individual needs, including students with special needs.
• Instructs students in citizenship and other subjects per laws and district procedures.
• Pursues professional knowledge through seminars, workshops or research.
• Maintains accurate records of grades, attendance and progress as required by district and laws.
• Encourages parental involvement and communicates with students and parents effectively.
• Ensures student conduct aligns with school policies and maintains a positive classroom climate.
• Coordinates with grade-level colleagues to evaluate curriculum and participates in faculty meetings.
• Selects and requisitions books and supplies and maintains inventory records.
• Supervises students during activities outside the classroom and school transportation.
• Administers standardized tests according to district testing programs.
