Job summary

The Neighborhood Learning Alliance PGH is seeking a K-5 Afterschool Site Supervisor to lead a dynamic afterschool program at Pittsburgh Woolslsl Elementary School. The role emphasizes enriching activities, student well-being, and community building to foster academic engagement.

Hours are 3:45 pm – 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday, September 22, 2026 – May 28, 2027. This part-time, nonexempt position requires background checks and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation and quality assurance of the afterschool program across the site.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute daily programming and activities.
  • Refine daily procedures for operational efficiency.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff with feedback.
  • Manage attendance, behavior plans, and escalation as needed.
  • Foster a site culture supporting academic, physical, and social-emotional development.
  • Ensure health, safety, cleanliness, and organization of the program space.
  • Serve as primary contact for parents and partners.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and daily debriefs.
  • Maintain program documentation and inventories.
  • Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

FLSA Status: nonexempt

Employment Status: Part-time

Hourly Rate: $17.50

Work Location: Pittsburgh Woolslair Elementary School

Dates: September 22, 2026 – May 28, 2027; Monday – Friday

Hours: 3:45 pm - 6:30 pm

Camp Staffing: Average 12:1 camper to adult ratio

Offer Conditions

Hiring: Dependent on FBI Background, Child Abuse, Criminal Background, National Sex Offender Report, and Mandated Reporter Training (The organization will reimburse cost of clearances).

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Job Description

The K-5 Little Warriors Afterschool Program is designed to empower students to embrace their genius, establish a sense of community, and explore learning activities that enhance their health and well-being. This is done through active play, project-based learning, and enriched learning experiences. Staff will lead students in academic enrichment, arts, STEM, and community building activities. In addition, staff members will create a safe and welcoming environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the successful implementation and quality assurance of the afterschool program model across the entire site.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of daily programming, academic components, and recreational activities.
  • Establish, monitor, and refine daily procedures, transitions, and program structures to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff, providing ongoing feedback and guidance.
  • Manage overall student attendance, tracking systems, and behavioral management plans; intervene in escalated behavioral or behavioral incidents as needed.
  • Cultivate a site culture that actively supports children’s academic, physical, and social-emotional development.
  • Ensure the entire program space meets strict health, safety, cleanliness, and organization standards at all times.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and facility partners program operations and student progress.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings, training sessions, and daily debriefs.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, incident reports, and supply inventories.
  • Perform other leadership duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program.
  • Attend team meetings as assigned.
  • Performs other duties assigned for which the employee is qualified and physically able to perform. Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED. Some college experience is preferred.
  • Experience in (or currently studying): education, social work, public service, health careers, nonprofits.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Passion to serve the community and ensure student success.
  • Basic knowledge of using technology (computers, iPad, tablets, projector, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
