Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Instructional Team Leader to coordinate grade-level/content-area teams and ensure collaborative work across PLC questions. The role fosters a culture of shared responsibility, data-informed decision making, and ongoing professional development.

The ITL will chair meetings, facilitate norms, and serve as a bridge between staff and administration while driving school improvement through data analysis and actionable plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsements for the position
• Lifelong learner with a collaborative spirit

Responsibilities

• Enhance the capacity of their team to work interdependently to achieve common goals with mutual accountability
• Lead team in preparing and utilizing norms, planning agendas, and chairing meetings
• Serve as a direct communication link between the administration and staff
• Lead work of the team in analyzing and improving student data
• Research and experiment with best practices in education
• Lead collaborative development and attainment of learning improvement goals
• Identify and communicate professional development needs
• Attend ITL Learning Sessions and engage with PLC-related topics
• Participate as learners, share feedback, and publicly present team products
• Serve on the building leadership team to develop, facilitate, and monitor school improvement efforts
• Plan and lead identified action steps based on data reviews (co-planning/co-facilitating professional development, action research, mutual accountability systems)
