Job summary

Wadsworth City Schools is seeking a Part-Time Student Support Services/Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher for grades K-4 to support the MCDAC program in Sacred Heart. The role involves instruction and coordination with staff and the Building Principal to promote positive relations and effective program operation.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a Counselor/Teacher license preferred, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent and current Counselor/Teacher Licensed preferred.
• Good organizational/communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and articulately.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel.
• Ability to give and follow directions.
• Ability to perform clerical skills including filing, copying and recordkeeping.
• Must enjoy working with school-age students. Must have patience and be cheerful.
• A working knowledge of copiers, faxes, and other devices commonly used in public schools, as well as knowledge of computers and e-mail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to successfully complete Crisis Intervention training.
• Show initiative and anticipate upcoming issues.
• Successful validation of qualifications as determined by interview.
• Other relevant criteria as determined by the Board of Education, Superintendent and/or designee may find appropriate are acceptable.
• Ability to perform items as listed in the essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Work with students, staff and/or the Building Principal in support of the MCDAC Program’s general operation procedures.
• Duties include instruction and/or direction of individuals or groups of students using research-based materials aligned with the LIFESKILLS/QUEST curricula.
• Collaborate with Building Principal and other school personnel on program operations and public relations.
