Job summary

Southwest Licking Local School District seeks a Primary Learning Specialist/Reading Specialist to deliver targeted literacy instruction to K–3 students. The role emphasizes systematic, evidence-based reading support aligned with district literacy programs.

Working at Etna and Kirkersville Elementary, you will evaluate learners, provide diagnostic testing, and collaborate with teachers to improve student reading outcomes under the negotiated salary schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid elementary or reading certificate from the State of Ohio.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students referred for reading improvement based on district criteria.
• Provide diagnostic testing and targeted reading support to classroom teachers.
• Help students develop positive self-image and reading enjoyment.
• Teach students at remedial and developmental levels in reading.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt instruction to students' learning styles.
• Assist teachers in locating appropriate reading materials and methods.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
• Evaluation follows the negotiated agreement standards.
