Job summary

Wethersfield Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator for K-3 at Charles Wright Elementary School, starting August 26, 2026. The position is a 10-month assignment, 25 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Compensation ranges from $20.54 to $25.12 per hour and includes benefits for staff working over 20 hours weekly. Responsibilities include supporting daily routines, literacy support, small-group instruction, and data collection, while maintaining confidentiality and professional

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, 60 college credit hours, or ParaPro Assessment completed; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to interact with children in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Support students in daily routines such as arrival, centers, cleanup, and dismissal, promoting independence.
• Assist with transitions between activities and spaces using prompts and cues.
• Model and reinforce social skills, including turn-taking and positive peer interactions.
• Help students develop self-regulation with calming strategies and sensory supports.
• Participate in professional learning and implement practices—August training days.
• Provide support during literacy instruction (phonemic awareness, letter recognition, early writing, reading behaviors).
• Assist with academic tasks across content areas and reinforce teacher instruction.
• Facilitate structured play and learning centers; keep students engaged and on task.
• Encourage independence with self-help skills; manage materials and personal items.
• Collect academic and behavioral data.
• Interact positively with staff and students.
• Assist with recess, supervision, restroom breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel, students, and operations.
• Promote professional appearance and conduct in public relations.
