Job summary

Achievement Behavior Services seeks a Behavior Technician to work one-on-one with a 6-year-old girl in Elmont, NY (11003). You will be guided by a BCBA and implement the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan in the home environment to support communication, focus, and adaptive behaviors.

This role offers an hourly starting rate between $25 and $30, part-time after-school schedule, potential weekend work, and opportunities to pursue the RBT credential with personalized supervision.

Qualifications

  • ABA and related disciplines (psychology, special education, occupational therapy, speech pathology)
  • Experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligned with treatment plans
  • Strong communication with caregivers, supervisors and clients

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 in-home ABA-based services
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans under BCBA supervision
  • Measure and document skill acquisition and progress
  • Maintain thorough session notes and data for billing and clinical review
  • Engage with BCBA supervision and adapt strategies as directed

Achievement Behavior Services is an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

Personalized Training and Supervision from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:
  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings
  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.
  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers
The Qualifications of a Behavior Technician:
  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology
  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required
  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations
  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness
  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children
  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues
  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.
  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches
  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals
  • Structured and creative play skills
