Job summary

Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS) seeks a dedicated Behavior Technician for in-home, part-time ABA services in New York. You will work one-on-one with children in their home environment under the supervision of a BCBA, following individualized intervention plans to improve communication and adaptive behaviors.

The role emphasizes rapport-building, data collection, and collaboration with the ABA Professionals Network. Prior experience with autism and NY state qualifications is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Field of study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, special education, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology.
  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills required.
  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations.
  • Professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness.
  • Experience with pre-school and elementary school-aged children.
  • Experience with autism and development issues.
  • Experience or qualifications as required by NY State.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in rapport building and creative problem solving to help a student communicate needs, wants, and feelings.
  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
  • Provide 1:1 in-home direct service using ABA approaches.
  • Maintain thorough session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
  • Collaborate with BCBA supervisor(s) for feedback and direction.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

    In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:
  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings
  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.
  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers
The Qualifications:
  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology
  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required
  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations
  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness
  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children
  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues
  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.
  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches
  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals
