Qualifications

JOB TITLE: Title I Instructional Assistant

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

Summary Description

Properly trained paraprofessionals can play essential roles in improving student achievement in schools where they can reinforce and enhance a teacher's effort in the classroom. The Instructional Assistant will work on literacy interventions with students at Lincoln Elementary under the direct supervision of the Literacy & Instructional Support Specialist. A primary responsibility includes pulling students out to work with them in small groups focused on foundational literacy skills.

Job Responsibilities

Building Instructional Capacity

• Targeted Literacy Support: Pull students out of the main classroom setting for focused, small-group instruction on foundational literacy skills, as directed by the Literacy & Instructional Support Specialist.
• Maintain individual records for identified students.
• Support and implement all policies and regulations as designed by each respective school and NLCS.
• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of classroom teachers.

Planning & Professional Learning

• Direct instruction from the Literacy & Instructional Support Specialist.

Student Support

• Is positive in working with identified children and helps build their self-esteem.
• Has the ability to make use of a variety of resources to assist identified students in meeting their goals.

Educational Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

• High school diploma or GED.
