Job summary

The Science House at NC State University seeks a Temporary STEM Instructor 2026 to plan, prepare, and deliver STEM curricula for camps and academies in Raleigh, NC. You will foster a welcoming learning environment and use project-based methods.

Choose 5–10 hours weekly (Saturdays 8am–1pm in summer; other periods Mon-Fri 8am–5pm). Compensation is $25–$30 per hour. Prior teaching experience preferred, with a STEM background and passion for outreach.

Qualifications

• BS or BA Degree with an emphasis in mathematics, science, technology, engineering or education.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• Preferred: current NC teaching certificate in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, or a Master’s degree in a STEM field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver STEM‑oriented instruction using project‑based learning methods for adolescent students.
• Attend teaching‑planning sessions and training related to the STEM program.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques, media and performance assessments to guide student learning and interest in STEM.
• Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
• Collaborate with program director and staff to organize, develop, coordinate and evaluate STEM activities.
