Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher in Birmingham, AL, for a full-time contract role paying $42 per hour. The teacher will serve K–12 students, collaborating with the Special Education Program Administrator and general education staff to implement individualized instruction and support plans.

The position requires a state teaching certificate and a bachelor's degree, with preferred LBS1 endorsement and optional CPR/health screenings as per policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred.
• State Teacher Certification types including Elementary, Secondary or Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.
• Participate in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
