Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in K-12 settings near Waterville and Oakland, ME. The position is onsite for the 26/27 school year and focuses on providing essential communication access in classrooms and at school events.

Qualifications

• Valid Maine SLI license required.
• Experience providing interpretation in school settings (K-12 preferred).
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and educational best practices.
• Ability to adapt communication styles for various age groups and learning needs.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate seamless communication between students, teachers, and peers using ASL.
• Interpret classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Support IEP implementation by ensuring accessibility.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies.
• Proactively collaborate with colleagues to enhance learning environments and student engagement.
