Job summary

Maschio's Food Service Inc. in the North Plainfield, NJ area seeks a School District Chef to provide culinary leadership and support across K-12 school foodservice operations. You will ensure high-quality, safe, and appealing meals while guiding menu execution and recipe development.

The ideal candidate has hands-on culinary experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for student dining. Experience with USDA standards and ServSafe is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of culinary/foodservice experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
• Culinary training or professional culinary experience.
• K-12 or institutional foodservice experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Knowledge of USDA school meal programs and nutrition standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide culinary leadership across K-12 school foodservice operations.
• Train and mentor foodservice teams and lead Chef Days.
• Support USDA-compliant menu development and nutrition standards.
• Monitor food quality, safety, and food cost control.
• Introduce innovative, student-focused menu concepts.
