Job summary

AIMS College Prep Charter District in Oakland, CA seeks a K-12 School Counselor to support students, families and staff in mental health, crisis response and creating a positive school climate.

Under supervision of the Head of School, you will coordinate student support structures, provide mental health services, supervise graduate interns, and collaborate with community agencies to strengthen school-based supports.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree and PPS Credential in Social Work.
• Experience with case management in a school setting.
• Experience coordinating comprehensive school support systems.
• Multicultural competency; bilingual/bicultural preferred (Spanish/Mandarin).

Responsibilities

• Build and facilitate student support structures (SAP/SST).
• Provide classroom and student behavior support to teachers.
• Help schools develop/enhance a positive school climate.
• Provide mental health and crisis services to students and families.
• Coordinate with families and community resources.
• Provide professional development to staff on wellness and youth development.
• Supervise graduate interns in mental health or counseling internships.
• Assess needs and develop innovative programs to address identified needs.
