Job summary

West Bonner County School District seeks a TITLE 1 Paraprofessional to support K-12 instructional activities at the Jr/Sr High School in Priest River, Idaho. The role assists teachers, reinforces lessons, and helps manage student behavior and materials in a bustling classroom environment.

The ideal candidate has two years of college coursework or an associate degree, plus Parapro Praxis, with strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate with staff and serve students effectively.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework (48 credits) or an Associate's Degree in education or related field; Parapro Praxis Exam.
• Previous aide or teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices
• Demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities
• Knowledge of subject matters and ability to instruct students at the direction of the teacher
• Knowledgeable with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and reports
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
• Works well with students, staff, and the public
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work under pressure and deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of staff and students

Responsibilities

• Maintain high academic standards and expectations
• Provide tutorial help to students following lessons prescribed by the teacher and reinforce material
• Provide immediate feedback on student performance to students and to the supervising teacher
• Respond to students' questions and requests for assistance
• Observe students' work and study habits
• Observe and record students' time on task when needed
• Assist students in locating prescribed instructional materials and starting their assignments
• Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program
• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills introduced by the teacher
• Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher
• Provide individualized instruction activities using materials and sequences selected by the supervising teacher
• Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
• Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in IEPs
• Assist with large group activities like drill and practice, reading aloud, storytelling; participate in oral communication with students
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher
• Assist students in the library or media center
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work
• Assist with supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
• Administer, score, and record tests as recommended for individual students
• Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential
• Communicate classroom rules and help students set standards of behavior
