Job summary

United Charter High Schools is seeking a Director of Technology to lead and strengthen technology across seven campuses and Central Office. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on systems work to ensure technology supports instruction, student services, enrollment, and operations.

The ideal candidate will have K-12 leadership experience, strong cybersecurity, and a track record of building scalable, compliant technology solutions in a multi-school network.

Qualifications

• The candidate will be strategic, school-centered, and highly resourceful.
• You think in systems, communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• You are comfortable setting direction and working hands-on to solve problems.
• Strong leadership and vendor-management capabilities are essential.
• Experience translating tech needs for educators and executives is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own network-wide technology strategy and infrastructure standards.
• Oversee cybersecurity, access governance, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Lead E-Rate planning and device management across campuses.
• Manage central server environments and core infrastructure tools.
• Oversee vendor relationships and contract renewals across partners.
• Lead applications approval, privacy, and data-governance controls.
• Design, build, and maintain internal apps, dashboards, and automations.
• Document architecture, APIs, databases, and deployment steps.
• Partner with Finance/HR/Operations to improve tech-enabled processes.
• Support school systems like PowerSchool, Google Classroom, and OTUS.

Master's degree or advanced credentials preferred

SBL/SDL certification preferred

7+ years tech/ops leadership experience

K-12 school network leadership experience

Experience with Google Workspace/Admin

Experience with cloud-based enterprise systems

Strong cybersecurity & data privacy

Excellent judgment & cross-stakeholder communication

Experience in multi-school charter networks

Knowledge of apps, dashboards, APIs, databases

FSA/HSA and health benefits understanding

Ability to handle after-hours during critical periods
