Job summary

Sylvania in Wisconsin is seeking a Nursing Paraprofessional to join the District Health Care Team under the supervision of the School District RN. The role provides and records student health care, reports changes in condition, and reinforces health instruction with the district team.

This 29-hour per week position pays $19.94 per hour and focuses on routine care, medication assistance, health screenings, confidentiality, and collaboration with nurses, administrators, and food services.

Qualifications

• Experience in health-related fields preferred.
• RN, LPN, CNA or MA license/certification preferred.
• Diabetes management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine first aid and basic care for students during the school day.
• Assist the school nurse with medications and treatments per policy.
• Monitor students with chronic conditions as directed.
• Document and maintain records of visits and medication administration.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about health concerns.
• Support health screenings and immunization record compliance.
• Uphold confidentiality of student health information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by nurse or administrator.

Job description

The nursing paraprofessional will be an engaged participant in the District Health Care Team under the direct supervision of the School District RN, Building Administration, and the Director of Student Services. The Nursing Paraprofessional will provide and record student care and report to the appropriate person with changes in students' condition; consult with the District RN when uncertain about nursing or medical actions; provide basic health instructions and reinforce teaching by other District Team Members.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide routine first aid and basic care for students who become ill or injured during the school day.
• Assist the school nurse with administration of prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with district policy and state regulations.
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions as directed by the school nurse (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
• Document and maintain accurate records of student visits, treatments, and medication administration.
• Communicate promptly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns or dismissal due to illness or injury.
• Support the school nurse in conducting state-mandated health screenings and ensuring compliance with immunization and health record requirements.
• Follow universal precautions and infection control procedures.
• Assist office staff with toileting/hygiene needs
• Collaborate with food service and nutritional staff as needed
• Assist office staff as needed
• Assist school nurse with 504 supports as needed
• Uphold confidentiality of student health information in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the school nurse or building administrator.

Education

• Preferred: Applicants with successful work experience in health-related fields. RN, LPN, CNA or MA license/certification preferred.
• Preferred: Experience/training in diabetes management, including use of continuous glucose monitoring and insulin administration
