Job summary

SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence is seeking a Chef Manager to oversee the Food Service Department, directing salaried managers and hourly staff. You will manage client interfaces, budgets, and program initiatives to drive meal counts and revenue.

Responsibilities include staff hiring and development, contract oversight, and ensuring food quality, sanitation, and compliance with HACCP/OSHA standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food service management, nutrition, business, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years in food service with chef manager experience, preferably in K-12.
• Strong knowledge of food cost controls, sanitation, and presentation.
• Proven P&L accountability for revenues in the $500K–$2M range.
• Experience with cost-reimbursable and fixed meal rate contracts.
• Leadership with ability to train and develop staff; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage salaried managers and hourly staff in the Food Service Department.
• Oversee account management, client interface, and quality assurance.
• Train Assistant Food Service Director for new contracts and growth.
• Lead program innovation to increase meal counts and revenue.
• Maintain relationships with district staff and ensure compliance with standards.
• Plan and control budgets, labor, and food costs to targets.
• Prepare reports on inventory, payroll, and production; HACCP/OSHA adherence.
• Drive marketing and promotional activities for SFE.
