Job summary

Sylvania is looking for a Junior Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach for Flint Cultural Center Academy. The role involves instructing and developing student-athletes, fostering a collaborative environment, and encouraging student participation in basketball and other sports. The ideal candidate will have significant coaching experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with colleagues and students. A stipend of $3,000 is offered for this position.

Required Qualifications

• Successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Alternate qualifications may be considered.
• Meet requirements for background check and fingerprinting.

Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills

• Background that includes a high level of basketball knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
• Experience working as part of a collaborative team.

A successful candidate will be able to:

• Relate to and instruct student-athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
• Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
• Ability to work cooperatively with administration and staff.
• Ability to encourage student participation in basketball.
• Possess strong organizational, motivational, discipline, and fundamental teaching skills.
• Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
• Able to communicate with players, parents, and other coaches.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
