Job summary

South Burlington School District (VT) is seeking an Assistant, JV, and Middle School Athletic Coach to support the JV wrestling program and assist the Varsity Coach with administrative duties and practice planning.

The role emphasizes developing student-athletes, coordinating transportation, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and eligibility requirements. A strong emphasis on leadership, organization, and communication is required.

Qualifications

• Direct experience in organizing and leading a comprehensive sports program is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and/or demonstrated continued learning in health and fitness area is preferred.
• Must have effective organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of computers and fitness equipment is essential.
• Must have knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the administrative duties for the assigned sport by scheduling and coordinating transportation to tournaments and events.
• Assists with the preparations of scheduled practices and sporting events; coordinates with staff for facility use.
• Ensures health certifications, parent consent, and student eligibility documentation is provided to Activities/Athletic Director.
• Maintains proper safeguards for equipment and storage areas; ensures equipment security and inventory.
• Directs student managers, assistants, and statisticians; enforces discipline per policy.
