Job summary

The Middlesex County Magnet Schools Board is seeking a Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach for the 2026-2027 school year at East Brunswick Magnet School. Salary will align with the JV/Assistant Varsity soccer coaches salary guide. The role is appointed annually and requires NJ teaching credentials and CPR/AED.

Qualifications

• Be holder of a New Jersey State Teacher's Certificate or County Substitute's Certificate.
• Proof of CPR/AED and Sports First Aid certifications required.
• Experience coaching sub-varsity teams preferred.
• Familiarity with AACCA Safety Rules and heat illness prevention.

Responsibilities

• The JV Coach will have full responsibility for the Junior Varsity cheerleading team.
• Assist the Varsity Coach with practices, travel, and home/away games attendance.
• Ensure safety and compliance with coaching certifications before season start.
• Field JV team only if approved; otherwise the position may not be filled.

Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach

Brief Description:

The Board of Education of Middlesex County Magnet Schools is currently accepting applications for Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Salary will be based on the Junior Varsity/Assistant Varsity Soccer Coaches salary guide in effect for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is appointed annually.

Responsibilities:

The Junior Varsity Coach will have full responsibility for the Junior Varsity team and will assist the Varsity Coach with athletic team activities such as practice, travel, and attendance at home and away games. Compensation will be based on the Teacher's Agreement with the Board of Education.

If a Junior Varsity team cannot be fielded within ten (10) days of the first official practice, the position will not be filled.

Qualifications:

Be the holder of a New Jersey State Teacher's Certificate and/or a County Substitute's Certificate, have a knowledgeable background in the sport as a player or coach in college or in high school, three years of sub-varsity coaching preferred, and a successful background in working with young people in a related sports field. Coaches will be certified in CPR/AED and Sports First Aid and, if new to the profession, must register for the NFHS Coaching Principles Course within 120 days of employment. The coach should be familiar with AACCA School Cheer Safety Rules and AACCA Spirit Safety. The candidate must have completed the "A Guide to Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention" course as well as the "Concussion in Sports – What you need to Know." Certifications need to be completed before the first day of the season.

Appointment is at the discretion of the Board of Education.
