Job summary

The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) is seeking a Juvenile Legal Policy Advisor to strengthen juvenile court programs in Oregon. This role analyzes proposed legislation and existing laws, develops new programs, and drafts training materials for judges and staff.

The position is based in Salem or Portland with hybrid options and requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including the State Bar, Legal Aid, and tribal partners.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Four years of legal and legal research experience.
• Current membership in good standing in the Oregon State Bar.
• Experience with juvenile law or juvenile court programs preferred.
• Ability to analyze policies, statutes, and rules.

Responsibilities

• Analyze proposed legislation, statutes, rules, and policies related to juvenile court programs.
• Develop and implement juvenile court programs to improve outcomes for youth and families.
• Draft legal forms, instructions, and training materials.
• Deliver training sessions for judges, staff, and stakeholders.
• Provide legislative support, draft fiscal impact statements, and participate in work groups.
• Support grant objectives and track requirements.
