Job summary

State of Georgia is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Sergeant for Wilkes Regional Youth Detention Center in Wilkes, GA. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth, guiding subordinate staff, and upholding facility policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of experience as Juvenile Correctional Officer 3 (PSP222) or equivalent.
• Must complete Leadership Core Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced within six months, or have four years of military experience.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia POST certification within six months.

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with DJJ policies.
• Provide direct support and guidance to detained youth.
• Complete administrative paperwork and maintain records.
• Inspect and manage security equipment to ensure safety of youths.
• Supervise and direct subordinate staff activities to maintain order.
