Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Sergeant to supervise and support staff at the Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center in Rome, GA. The role emphasizes safety, rehabilitation, and pro-social behavior in a secure environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, six months of relevant experience, and timely completion of Leadership Core certifications plus P.O.S.T. certification. A valid driver's license is also required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and six months of experience as Juvenile Correctional Officer 3 or equivalent.
• Must complete Leadership Core Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced within the first six months of employment.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first six months of employment.
• Must have a valid Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth per DJJ policies and procedures.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure for detained youth.
• Inspect, inventory, and maintain security equipment and technology.
• Oversee officer activities and performance; may serve as Shift Supervisor in absence of the Lieutenant.
