Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Officer for the Bob Richards RYDC in Rome, GA to help create a safe, therapeutic and educational environment for youth in care.

You will supervise and support detained youth, conduct searches and security checks, promote pro-social behavior, and ensure compliance with policies. A high school diploma or GED and POST certification within six months are required, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification within the first six months of employment.
• Must have valid Driver License

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth following DJJ policies and SOPs.
• Provide support, guidance, and structure for detained youth, emphasizing safety and rehabilitation.
• Conduct contraband searches, security counts, and supervise youth in housing, classroom, and other areas.
• Maintain order and discipline through active supervision and redirection.
• Promote adaptive behavior through positive reinforcement and coaching.
• Screen visitors and staff to prevent unauthorized access.
