Job summary

Tarrant County is seeking a Detention Officer to support Juvenile Detention and Post-Adjudication staff. You will escort detained juveniles, de-escalate crises, and maintain secure custody across multiple locations.

Responsibilities include health screening and documenting incidents, with duties also extending to monitoring visits and assisting with disciplinary actions. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant certifications (TX JDO, First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent restraint), and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• TX Juvenile Detention Officer certification required or able to obtain.
• First Aid, CPR and Non-Violent restraint certifications preferred.
• College degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains secure custody of detained residents, preventing escapes and misconduct.
• Escorts residents inside/outside the facility to multiple locations.
• Intervenes in aggressive situations with counseling and restraint when needed.
• Documents incidents, restraints and exchanges with probation officers.
• Assists with health screening, program orientation and dress-in procedures.
• Screens and monitors family visits for compliance; handles confidential information.
