Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate.
• Experience, training, or skills: NONE.
• Special requirements include being 20+ years old, valid driver’s license, DJJ Training Academy completion within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintains custody and control of juveniles in a custodial setting or related assignments.
• At entry level, supervises detained juveniles and maintains a safe, secure environment.
• Takes required actions during emergencies and stands watch in each unit.
• Assists juveniles in developing interpersonal skills.
• Provides support for routine maintenance; checks premises and ensures safety; attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintains the booking program to record daily youth behavior and court-family interactions.
• Oversees juveniles during program activities at detention centers.
• Completes incident reports and other documentation per detention center rules; assists with complaints procedures.
• Attends staff meetings, case conferences and trainings as required.
• Transports juveniles as needed.
