Juvenile Detention Center Supervisor- New Hanover JDC

Position Overview

This position is located at the New Hanover Juvenile Detention Center, a secure facility in Castle Hayne, NC. The mission is to provide a safe, secure environment for juveniles that fosters healthy decision-making and personal responsibility.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 3rd shift position, including weekends and holidays (schedule to be discussed during interview).

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Supervise direct care staff responsible for the safety and security of juveniles and staff.
  2. Assist in hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
  3. Ensure staff meet certification requirements and adhere to policies and procedures.
  4. Work involves close personal and physical contact with juveniles, impacting safety and property protection.

Qualifications and Requirements

Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in juvenile treatment, rehabilitation modalities, and leadership. Education and experience must meet the criteria outlined, including a bachelor's degree and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.

Additional Requirements
  • Must attend and pass the Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training certification.
  • Must pass background checks, drug screening, psychological and physical tests, and other statutory requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 20 years old, with a valid driver's license.
